Åland Open Junior Camp & Tournament Postponed to 2027

It is with great disappointment that we have to announce that the Åland Open Junior Camp & Tournament will not be held in 2026. Instead, the event has been postponed to the same period next year, either during the last week of July or the first week of August 2027.

This was not an easy decision. Over the past months, we have worked hard to make this year's event happen. Unfortunately, the number of registrations was lower than expected, and several of our international coaches and key partners were confirmed much later than planned. For an international junior event, where many participants travel long distances with their families, early planning is essential.

Our pilot event gave us valuable experience, and the most important lesson is clear: all key elements—including coaches, the program, accommodation, and logistics—must be finalized much earlier. That is why registrations and bookings for the 2027 event will open already during the autumn of 2026, giving players and their families plenty of time to plan their journey to Åland.

Despite this setback, there is a lot to look forward to. We already have a group of junior players from Japan planning to travel to Åland next year, and we are in discussions with several other international groups. With a longer planning timeline, we are confident that we can create an even stronger and more international event.

At the same time, we are incredibly proud of what Åland Open has already achieved.

Our very first champion, Julia Fors, earned a wildcard to the European Open through her victory at Åland Open. She then went on to deliver a sensational performance, finishing in second place against some of the world's best players. Her success perfectly illustrates what this event is all about.

Our ambition has always been to build more than just another tournament. We want Åland Open to become an international platform where promising junior players can meet friends and competitors from around the world, learn from experienced coaches, and take important steps in their development. We also want to provide talented young players with opportunities to qualify for some of the biggest events in disc golf and continue their journey toward the highest level of the sport.

We would like to sincerely thank all players, parents, coaches, volunteers, sponsors, and partners who have supported this project. Your encouragement and belief in our vision mean everything to us.

We are already looking ahead to 2027, and we are determined to return with an even stronger, bigger, and more international Åland Open than ever before.

Thank you for your understanding, your patience, and your continued support. We look forward to welcoming you to Åland in 2027.
