Welcoming Both Amateurs and Professionals at Åland Open 2025!

At Åland Open, we are proud to be part of an exciting new chapter in disc golf history. In 2025, for the first time, both amateurs and professionals will compete side by side in the same events, thanks to a new PDGA initiative currently in its test year. We are honored to be one of the tournaments helping to bring this vision to life!

This year, the initiative includes 13 events across the United States, and in Europe, at least four countries will send junior players from various qualifying events. Additionally, countries will have the opportunity to nominate junior players to participate in this groundbreaking pilot year.

Europe:

It is difficult to predict exactly how many juniors will be able to travel to Åland this first year for various reasons, but we are excited to welcome up to 72 participants in the junior competition. The tournament will start on Friday, August 8, and continue over three days until Sunday, August 10. After the qualification rounds in May and June 2025, any remaining spots will be open for purchase, allowing more juniors the chance to participate in this historic event.

Our disc golf week on Åland promises not just world-class competition but a true celebration of the sport. On Wednesday and Thursday, August 6-7, the juniors will have the chance to practice on the course and participate in our vibrant Side Event program, based in Godby. Here, players will be able to stay, eat, and enjoy a full range of activities designed to enhance their disc golf journey.

There will be different levels of accommodation available. For participants who bring their own mattress and sleeping gear, accommodation and breakfast for the five days on Åland are included in the participation package. The total participant fee for Åland Open 2025 is €150. Included in the participant fee is a player package containing discs, a player shirt, participation in all side events, and entry into the main competition.

We will also provide more detailed information about accommodation options, how to travel to Åland, and the travel support we are working to establish. Final support arrangements will depend on the number and origin of participants traveling to Åland.

These side events will range from pure disc golf clinics led by none other than former World Champion Avery Jenkins to specialized sessions on mental training with Christof Treier — equipping players with the mindset needed for success both on and off the course.
